On 3rd May 2007 the elections gave the Alliance 6 seats out of 18. The Labour Party has 11 and the Conservatives 1.We have a say, but not the majority, now we must achieve the best for Dover and strive for more! The ruling Labour party still think that Party politics are a benefit to the Town - we do not. In May 2006 they voted that only Labour Councillors could hold a position of Chairman, Vice Chairman of committees or even represent the Council on outside bodies! This isn't democracy! Decisions that should be made in public are being made at Labour party headquarters by non elected people behind closed doors. Anyone who shares our views is welcome to help. How can you help? We need the people of Dover to consider what they want of their Town Council and understand that Party Politics is contrary to its progress. We need caring and independent people to get involved and stand for the Town Council seats. We need people to help in the wards - passing the message and distributing leaflets. We need funds to provide printing and advertising for the next election. |
